Questions

Frequently asked questions

Buying is on the left of the business, collections on the right: cards ship nationwide, and collections are handled in person across Palm Beach County and Martin County. If your question is not here, ask it — hello@jupitertcg.com reaches a person.

Buying

What do you sell?

Single cards, one listing per card, scanned front and back with the condition stated, plus multi-card packs put together by theme. We buy sealed product in person too - boxes, packs, tins and bundles - and we never open it.

Can I visit a store or pick an order up?

There is no public storefront and we do not take walk-ins. Orders ship to you. In-person meetings happen only by appointment, and only for collection services.

Can I ask a question about a specific card before I buy?

Yes. Use the contact form or email hello@jupitertcg.com and include the SKU from the listing, and you will get an answer from the person who scanned it.

Shipping

How much is shipping?

Shipping is a flat rate set by how many cards are in the order: up to three travel as a letter, four or more in a bubble mailer, which costs several times as much. A graded card travels in a mailer whatever the count, because a slab does not fit a letter, and you still pay the rate your card count sets. Orders at or above a set total ship signed for and insured whatever the card count, and our card packs already have the postage in the price. The current rates and the free-shipping threshold are listed in full on our shipping policy.

Where do you ship?

Addresses in the United States only. We do not ship internationally, and we do not accept cards mailed to us for any reason.

How are cards packed?

Sleeve, top loader, team bag, then an envelope for up to three cards or a bubble mailer for four or more. A graded card always ships in a mailer, whatever the count, because a slab does not fit a letter. Bubble mailers are tracked and the number reaches you by email when the order ships; an envelope travels as a letter, which is not scanned, and you can pay to upgrade any order to a tracked mailer on the payment page. If a letter-rate order has not arrived 21 days after it shipped, and the carrier has not recorded it as delivered, tell us and we refund it in full. There is no claim to make on a letter, so we carry that cost ourselves rather than leave it with you. If a tracked order has not arrived 21 days after it shipped, and the carrier has not recorded it as delivered, we refund it in full on the same terms as a letter: one clock and one exception, whichever service carried the order. What the upgrade buys is the delivery record, and the record cuts both ways - it is what lets us claim against the carrier, a claim that is ours to chase rather than yours to wait on, and it is also the one thing that can show an order as delivered.

Condition

How do you describe condition?

Raw cards use a five-point scale from Near Mint to Damaged, with the full definitions on our condition and grading policy. Our grade is an opinion, formed from the same scans you can see on the listing.

Do you sell graded cards?

Everything in the shop today is raw and ungraded. When a graded card comes through, it is listed with its grading company, its grade and its certification number, and the slab is scanned as it will ship.

Selling a collection

How long until I hear back?

We reply within 2 business days. Every submission gets a personal reply, including the ones we decline.

Can I mail my cards to you?

No. We do not accept mail-ins, and we never ask you to ship a collection. We meet in person in South Florida, by appointment, after we have reviewed your submission.

I do not know what I have. Is that a problem?

No, and it is the normal case. Every question on the form has a Not sure answer, and a few wide photos of the boxes tell us more than a description does. Sorting or listing it first is not necessary.

Am I obligated to sell?

No. An offer is explained in person, with the reasoning behind it, and you are free to say no and take your cards home.

How and when do I get paid for a sale?

Same day, at the appointment, by cash, Zelle or Venmo.

I have sealed boxes. What do you check before you buy them?

We look at it with you and we write down what we find, in front of you. Every face of the item is photographed, it is weighed, and the state of the wrap goes on the record with the rest of your intake - intact, intact with something worth noting, or opened. What nobody can prove from the outside is that the packs inside are the original packs: no photograph shows that, and there is currently no service that authenticates a sealed booster box at any price. So we do not call anything case fresh, never searched or guaranteed authentic, and we do not price it as though somebody had. What we pay reflects that, and we will tell you so at the table rather than afterwards.

Consignment

What do you charge to consign?

Flat 15% of the sale price; platform fees come out of the sale first, and postage is never deducted from you. There is no listing fee and no charge for scanning, packing or shipping supplies. The full terms are on our consignment terms page.

How long does consignment run?

90 days from the day you sign. At the end of the term you choose: authorize a price reduction, or take the unsold cards back.

When am I paid for a card that sells?

A sale settles 45 days after the order ships. A refund or cancellation recorded before then stops the sale settling; one recorded after it is reversed on your ledger. On a card sold through our own website we also check its order before it settles for an open payment dispute and for a refund that has not gone through, and either one holds the money until it is resolved. We cannot run that check on eBay, TCGplayer, Whatnot or a sale in person, where a buyer claim reaches your ledger as the refund or cancellation we record against the sale. A sale we make in person does not ship, so it settles on the day of the sale: there is no postage and no marketplace claim window. Settling is not the same as being paid: a settled balance goes out on the next payout run, whatever day it settled on. Payouts run monthly, on the 1st, covering every sale that settled by the last day of the prior month, and there is no minimum.

Is there a minimum?

$250 of total estimated value per batch, and no per-card minimum. A single card can be part of a batch; one common card on its own cannot.

Can I change my mind and get my cards back?

Yes. You can have any or all of your cards back at any time, for any reason, and there is no fee for it. Ask us in writing - an email is enough - and say which cards. We start taking listings down the day your request arrives, and we expect everything to be down within five business days. Until a card is down it can still sell, and a sold card is sold. Anything that sells before its listing comes down settles and is paid to you the normal way.

What if a card of mine is lost or stolen while you have it?

We do not insure your cards while they are here, and you should know that before you sign rather than after something happens. If you want them covered, arrange it yourself - the itemized receipt you sign, with every card and its agreed price on it, is the record to start from. If a card of yours is lost or stolen while it is with us, the most we can owe you for it is its agreed price from that receipt, or the lower price if we had already reduced it. If it is damaged, the most we can owe is what the damage took off that price. The limits, and the few things they do not stretch to, are set out in the consignment terms.

Can I see what has sold?

Yes. Ask for a statement for any date range and you get an itemized list of what sold, what it sold for, what came out and what you are owed.

Valuation

What does a valuation cost?

The first look is free and you do not have to meet anybody for it: send photos with your submission and we reply with our read on roughly what you are holding. Most people need nothing more than that. Beyond it the fees are published in full: flat by collection size, a one-page written opinion at a flat price whatever the size, and an hourly rate with a four-hour minimum and an agreed ceiling for anything larger than the biggest collection size on it. We quote the size from your photos and confirm it in person before any work starts - the size we quote is a ceiling, not a minimum - and the fee is payable at the appointment. If you sell your collection to us, or sign a consignment agreement with us, within 30 days of paying the valuation fee, we credit the fee back. Against a sale it comes off the offer; against a consignment it comes off your first payout.

What do I actually get?

An itemized inventory with the condition of each notable card, an estimated market range, and a written summary. It is yours to keep, and you keep the cards. The first page names who it was written for and says that no one else may rely on it, because it is our opinion written for your decision rather than a document for anyone else to lean on.

Is a valuation the same as an appraisal?

No, and it cannot be. We buy and consign collections, which means we may want to make an offer on yours - so we are not a disinterested valuer, and disinterest is exactly what an insurer, a probate court or the IRS is asking for. What we give you is a dealer's written opinion of the market: the document you decide from. If you need a sworn or certified appraisal, you need an accredited independent appraiser, and we will tell you where to find one: the International Society of Appraisers, the American Society of Appraisers and the Appraisers Association of America each publish a searchable directory of their members. We name nobody ourselves, because a name from us would be a recommendation and we are in no position to make one.

Appointments and safety

Where do we meet?

A public place near you, during the day, at a time we agree by email. We work from a private workspace, not a retail store, so there is nowhere to walk into.

Do you come to my house?

No. No home visits, in either direction, and that does not change. If a collection is too large to move in one trip, say so in your submission and we will work out what is practical - somewhere public, either way.

What should I bring?

The cards exactly as they are stored, photo ID, and any certificates or receipts you have. Do not clean, sort or re-sleeve anything first. If you are acting for an estate, bring the estate paperwork as well: something official saying you are the person entitled to deal with the property. In Florida that is usually the Letters of Administration the probate court issues, and we cannot buy or take in estate cards without it. A valuation is the exception: nothing changes hands, so it does not wait on the paperwork. If you are not sure what you have, say so in your submission and we will work it out by email before we schedule, rather than at the table.

How long does an appointment take?

Most appointments take thirty to ninety minutes. How long depends on how much there is to go through, and we will tell you what to expect when we schedule it.

How do I know who I am meeting?

The same person who replies to your submission is the person who meets you, and photo ID is shown on request. Our name and business are on the About page.

Still deciding?

We reply within 2 business days. Submitting costs nothing and commits you to nothing.
